New dilution fridge coming !
A dilution fridge is being installed in our lab. Hear the story behind it !
In september, we moved in a dilution refrigerator that will be installed very soon in our lab. The story of this fridge is quite old. It is the first prototype built in 2010 by the founder of the company Cryoconcept for Michel Devoret (Nobel Price 2025) and Benjamin Huard when they were working at ENS Paris. Since this day, it had moved to ENS de Lyon in the quantum circuit group where Benjamin Huard was appointed professor around year 2019. Fifteen years later, the fridge has been purchased by Alexis Jouan and is going to be installed in at LPEM to perform cryogenic measurements.
The software that controls the fridge has been updated, and we have been able to perform the first microwave measurements at base temperature ! The next step is to implement a readout line at 100GHz and characterize the first chips in the sub-THz frequency range.
